Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Binary Glyph Media, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information collected through binaryglyph.com. We are not in the business of collecting more than we need.
What we collect
Information you provide. If you subscribe to our writing, we collect your email address through GetSiteControl and store it in Campaign Monitor for the purpose of sending new essays when published. If you use the intake form on the Begin page, that form is handled by Bonsai — an external service with its own privacy policy. We receive the information you submit there.
Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 and Hotjar to understand how the site is used. These tools collect standard analytics data: pages visited, session duration, browser type, approximate location (country/region), and referring source. This data does not identify you personally.
Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records standard server log data including IP addresses, request paths, and timestamps. We do not analyze this data beyond security monitoring.
How we use it
- To send essays and practice updates to email subscribers who have opted in
- To respond to intake inquiries submitted through Bonsai
- To understand how the site is used and improve it accordingly
- To maintain security and diagnose technical problems
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for advertising. We do not share it with third parties beyond the service providers listed below.

Cookies
We use analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, Hotjar, and GetSiteControl. We do not set advertising, social, or targeting cookies. For the full list of cookies and their durations, see our Cookie Policy.
Email communications
If you subscribe to our writing, you will receive an email when a new essay is published. There is no schedule. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. We do not send promotional emails, sales sequences, or anything other than new writing.
Data retention
Email addresses are retained for as long as a subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the active list. Analytics data is retained per the default settings of Google Analytics (14 months) and Hotjar (365 days). Server logs are retained per our host’s standard policy.
Security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. We implement standard security headers and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store sensitive personal information and we do not operate systems that would make this site a meaningful target.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information — including the right to access, correct, or delete it. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we have collected and to request its deletion.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
Do Not Track
We do not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals. No uniform standard exists for interpreting these signals. If that changes, this policy will be updated.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted clearly.
